Summer Education Programs for 2011

 

Wildlife Rangers - Biologists Youth Camp - **THIS CAMP IS FULL** see below

Date:   June 27-July 1

Ages    9-12

Time:  9am-4pm (pre & after-care available)

 

 

  • Wildlife Ecology - local species discoveries, bird language, tracking skills, wild plants
  • Wildlife Habitat Restoration - on-site projects, animal mapping

 

Wildlife Rangers - Rehabilitator’s Camp -**THIS CAMP IS FULL** see below

Date:   July 11-15

Ages:   12-15

Time:  9am-4pm (pre and after-care available)

Cost:   $185

 

  • Mock animal exams, wildlife detective sleuthing (forensics), species identification and more
  • Daily hands-on experiences with wildlife including diet preparation, injury and disease diagnosis, husbandry, and enrichment techniques
  • Field trips to Brad’s World Reptiles and OSU Veterinary Schoolskills and exercises in medical exam procedures and dressing techniques

 

 

**Our first two summer camps are full; however, due to popular demand, the last two camps - "Birds and Bugs" and "Raptors of the Sky" are going to be modified to contain much more information and activities that relate to Wildlife Rehabilitation, and will be similar to the first two camps in content. So if you are interested in Wildlife Biology and Wildlife Rehabilitation, please sign up for one of the later camps and you will not be dissapointed!**

 

Wildlife Rangers - Birds & Bugs Camp

Date:   July 25 - 29

Ages    9-12

Time:  9am-4pm (pre & after-care available)

Cost:   $185

 

  • Learn identification and conservation strategies for local insects and birds on Chintimini property
  • Learn how to attract birds and insects to an area and how to study them once they arrive
  • Learn general wildlife ecology - local species discoveries, bird language, tracking skills & wild plant ID

 

Wildlife Rangers - Raptors of the Sky Camp

Date:   August 8 - 12

Ages:   9 - 12

Time:  9am-4pm (pre and after-care available)

Cost:   $185

 

  • Learn about raptors - owls, hawks, eagles and more!
  • Learn about local species and their unique adaptations and habitat needs
  • View live, non-releasable raptors working with their handlers daily; feeding, flying, and just hanging out!
  • Play games, make raptor art, record raptor sightings and become a raptor's buddy!

 

Family Wildlife Saturdays

 Dates:  

June 18 - Bird Buddies - Learn about local bird life. Bring bird books and binoculars if you have them.

July 9 - Wet & Wild - Pond exploration activities. Bring water shoes!

August 20 - Nature Explorations - A scavenger hunt in the Chintimini wetlands and woods.

September 17 - Wildlife Emergency! - Be a wildlife rehabilitator for a day.

  

Time:  10:00-11:30am

Cost:   $5/each $20/family / Ages 3 and under free

 

  Children's activities designed for ages 4 - 10

 

Meet the Raptors and their Handlers

Dates: The 3rd Sunday of each month

Scheduled presentations: May 15; Father's Day, June 19; July 17.

Ages:   All ages

Time:  2-3 pm

Cost:   $5/each $20/family / Ages 3 and under free

 

Meet our Education Bird Handlers and the raptors they care for at Chintimini.  Learn about raptor care, feeding, behavior and reproduction and what it takes to be a handler!  Watch them in their routines of exercise, feeding and training.

Registration not required for Family Day Camps or Meet the Raptors sessions. Just show up!

Registration deadline for Summer Camp Programs is one week prior to each program or until filled. Click below for registration forms.
